Much of this material is sourced through Surplus Bundles and Re-Usable Merchants and would typically include Bar Stock, Shorts, Machined Cores and Large Re- Machined Recovered Shafts and Plates.

Material can be supplied Cut to Size and Rough Machined to Shape, Pilot Bored/Bored and/or Faced to length and Milled as required.

F65

Description:

ASTM A694 Grade F65 is a low alloy steel, often selected for its high yield capabilities combined with its excellent low temperature toughness and weldability. It is typified by having moderate strength and impact toughness and is used extensively for the manufacture of flanges and fittings, well suited to be used for low temperature high pressure applications where features like tensile strength and resistance to corrosion are not of prime importance.

Typical Applications:

Forged Flanges, Hubs, Valves and bespoke shapes such as Block Tee’s.

Form of supply:

Material can be supplied, Black Annealed – Rolled/Forged Bar, Proof Machined, Bright Turned or Ground Bar, Cut Pieces or Machined to customer specification.

Size ranges

from: 100mm diameter – 800mm diameter

655M13[EN36]

Description:

655M13 grade steel is a nickel-chromium alloy case-hardening steel that is specified for heavy duty highlystressed parts. 655M13 is a carburising steel grade with excellent toughness and fatigue resistance with very high surface strength and a soft but strong core. The presence of chromium increases hardenability whilst the nickel content increases toughness and resistance to stock.

Typical Applications:

The production of numerous high strength parts including crankshafts in the automotive and aerospace sector, Heavy Automobile transmission components, Steering components, Gears, Shafts, Track rod pins, Breech mechanisms, Small parts for armaments etc.

Form of supply:

Material can be supplied, Black Annealed – Rolled/Forged Bar, Proof Machined, Bright Turned or Ground Bar, Cut Pieces or Machined to customer specification.

Size ranges from:

<60mm diameter – 760mm diameter

709M40 [EN19]

Description:

709M40 [EN19] is a 1% Chrome-Moly Through-Hardening Steel capable of surface hardening by nitriding. Suitable for applications where good tensile, ductility and shock resistance properties are important. May be induction hardened to give improved resistance wear.

Typical Applications:

Gears, Shafts, Crank Shafts, Rams and High Tensile Studs

Form of supply:

Material can be supplied, Black Annealed – Rolled/Forged Bar, Proof Machined, Bright Turned or Ground Bar, Cut Pieces or Machined to customer specification.

817M40 [EN24]

Description:

817M40 grade steel is a general purpose steel used for a wide range of engineering parts. It is capable of being heat treated to produce a wide range of tensile strengths combined with good ductility and resistance to shock. It has good hardenability, enabling it to be used for medium tensile strengths in fairly large sections, and possesses with good resistance to wear. At low temperatures good impact values can also be obtained. 817M40 is a 1.5% Ni-Cr-Mo high hardenability, high tensile strength steel. It is generally supplied in the Hardened and Tempered condition in the tensile range of 850 – 1000Mpa (T Condition) but can be heat treated to 850 – 1550Mpa dependent on section size (T – Z Condition). It could also be supplied in the annealed condition suitable for pre-heat treatment machining. This grade is very popular and widely used for many high strength applications where a good combination of strength and impact properties are essential in fairly large components.

Typical Applications:

This alloy is used in most industry sectors for a wide variety of applications including high strength machine parts, collets, spindles, gears, Engine Con Rods, HT bolts, shafts, couplings etc.

Form of supply:

Material can be supplied, Black Annealed – Rolled/Forged Bar, Proof Machined, Bright Turned or Ground Bar, Cut Pieces or Machined to customer specification.

Size ranges

from: 60mm diameter – 760mm diameter

826M40 [EN26]

Description:

826M40 grade steel is a 2.5% nickel-chromium-molybdenum through hardening steel which has a high hardenability. It may be treated in relatively large section sizes to produce tensile strengths ranging from 850 to over 1550 N/mm² combined with good ductility and resistance to stock. Due to its high molybdenum content, the steel may normally be tempered in the range 300-550C without serious loss of impact values. Good mechanical properties at low temperature can also be obtained.

Typical Applications:

Undercarriages, aero-engine and air frame parts, heavy duty gears, pinion connecting rods, crank and differential shafts and other transmission parts, high strength bolts, and studs, electrical motor shafts, turbine discs, gas bottles, mandrel bars for tube manufacture, ordnance part

Form of supply:

Material can be supplied, Black As-Rolled/Forged Bar, Proof Machined, Bright Turned or Ground Bar, Cut Pieces or Machined to customer specification.

Size ranges

from: <40mm diameter – 720mm diameter
