D.A. Cooper and Sons Ltd established in 1973 is a family run business that has been trading in the centre of the British steel industry. With over 47 years in the business we have built a distinguished reputation in the Steel Stockholding,  Machining, Steel Conditioning and Transport industries. Our site in the Lower Don Valley at the centre of the Sheffield/Rotherham steel industry consists of over  150,000 square feet of factory and office space. We are one of  the most prominent Steel Stockholding and Steel Conditioning  specialists in the country.

With a customer services team that is second to none, we are in the enviable position to be able to provide a fully-managed end to end service  and to respond to all our customers requirements, whether it be Steel Supply, Hot Working such as Forging, Heat Treatment and Testing, 1st Stage Machining or Steel Conditioning we are your One Stop Shop.

Our Directors have an astounding combined experience in the steel industry of 140 years, so you can rest assured that we have the expertise to deliver whatever service it is that you require at the highest, most competitive and experienced level possible anywhere.

Quality   Reliability, delivery performance and an ongoing scheme of continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do. Naturally, we hold British Standard ISO9001-2015 certification in addition to a whole host of customer accreditations. We can confidently say that the standard of our service is second to none.

Steel Stockholding   We carry a large range of Prime Steel Stock to include Ingots, Rolled and Forged Bar, Billets and Sections and Plates from the most prominent UK and European Mills. We supply the UK market as well as exporting our products to countless locations around the globe.   Our Markets include:  Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Defence, Power Generation, Engineering and Fabrication.

Hot Working   Although we don’t carry our Hot Working in-house, with our many years in the industry and through the supply of our services to most of the Forges and Heat Treatment facilities within the UK and Europe, we have built excellent relationships as both supplier and customer with these businesses. This enables us to offer through a range of Quality Approved and Accredited suppliers, Hot Working services within our scope of supply.  We have a wide range of suppliers both locally and within Europe providing us with Open & Closed Die Forgings, Upset Forgings, Extrusions, Rings, Ring Rolling, Heat treatment and Testing, etc.

Machining   This is an area of specialism and our services include some of the largest capacity Sawing, Centre Lathe Turning, Trepanning, Vertical & Deep-Hole Boring, Milling, Black/Bright Bar Reeling, Peeling and Centreless Grinding available within the UK. In addition to our in-house services we also have a wide range of local Quality Approved and accredited Suppliers offering CNC Machining and Grinding services for finish machined components.

Steel Conditioning   This is a further area of specialism and includes Billet, Bar, Slab, Bloom, Ingot Grinding as well as Shot-Blasting.  Working closely with all local Steel & Alloy producers, Rolling Mills and Forges we are the first choice when preparation and intermediate Re-Preparation is required prior to further processing or Hot-Working. We are the market leaders in recovery of Billet, Bars, Slabs, Ingots, and Forgings, particularly High Value Materials and Alloys where minimal material loss leading to overall cost saving is of the utmost importance.  We have a wide range of specially modified Centro-Maskin Grinders covering a wide range of sizes and lengths for small section billets to Large Ingots of up to 20 tonnes in weight enabling us to provide the most cost effective sub-Contract Grinding and Shot-Blasting services available within the UK

Transportation, Logistics & Storage   Our 1st class logistics team can offer the delivery of a small parcel to multiple deliveries of up to 28 tonnes per delivery.   We are happy to offer Spot -Hire, Day Rate or Contract Haulage anywhere throughout the UK and further afield.  Operating a wide range of over 20 specialist vehicles and trailers including Flat Back, Curtain sided and Self Loading Vehicles enables us to transport customer goods and material to include anything from a parcel or single pallet up to 28 tonnes including Abnormal, Long, Wide and Projecting loads.  Our large on-site Warehouses enable us to offer Warehousing Storage and Distribution Services, Trans-Shipping, etc.

As with all our services, we also have a wide range of Specialist Quality Approved suppliers within the Haulage sector who we use to assist us with over capacity or specialist services.   If we can’t do it ourselves we almost certainly have a supplier that can.
